EDM is a machining process in which material in a conductive workpiece is removed by spark erosion. In general terms there are two different types of EDM machines, die-sink EDM and wire cut EDM. The die sink EDM, has a tool which is a machined block that sinks into the workpiece and gradually creates a negative of the tool pattern. The wire EDM, in which the tool is a wire that slices cuts into the workpiece.
